The agreement
These terms are between you and Armin Kapetanovic, an individual developer based in Bosnia and Herzegovina, trading as Slug Sync. In what follows, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that publisher; “you” and “your” mean you, the visitor.
By accessing slugsync.com you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the site. That is the whole of the bargain — there is nothing to sign and no account to create.
The site and the software
This is the distinction that matters most on this page, so it comes first.
These terms govern the website. The Slug Sync plugin is governed by its own licence — the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. Where the two conflict, the GPL wins for anything to do with the software. Nothing on this page removes, limits or adds a condition to the freedoms that licence gives you.
The free plugin
Slug Sync is free software released under GPL-2.0-or-later. You may run it for any purpose, study it, modify it, and redistribute your modified version under the same licence. It is free of charge and there is no trial, no item limit, and nothing that expires.
It is also, as the GPL puts it, provided without any warranty. Slug Sync rewrites URLs on a live site. It is built to be careful about that — a preview before anything is written, a 301 recorded for every changed permalink, and an undo for every applied run — but it is still a bulk operation on your database, and the responsibility for running it is yours.
Take a database backup before your first run. That is not boilerplate; it is the single most useful thing you can do, and it is the reason the plugin shows you a preview instead of just getting on with it.
Slug Sync Pro
Pro is a paid add-on that is still in development and not yet on sale. Nothing on this site currently accepts payment. The price shown on the homepage is our intention, not an offer, and it may change before launch.
When Pro does become available, these will apply and will be restated at the point of purchase:
- One purchase covers every site you own under the licensed email address. There is no renewal and no site count to manage.
- The licence key is an offline
Ed25519signature verified on your own server. There is no activation call and no licence server we could switch off. - Pro is also GPL-licensed source code. Buyers receive the source, as the licence requires. What you are paying for is the work, the updates and the support — not a restriction on the code.
- Because it is a digital product delivered immediately, refunds are handled case by case. Ask, and if Pro did not do what this site said it does, you will get your money back.
The waiting list
Giving us your email address on the Pro waiting list buys you exactly one message: that Pro has shipped. No newsletter, no drip sequence, no sharing the list with anyone. You can ask to be removed at any time and the list is deleted after that single mailing. See the Privacy Policy for how the submission is handled.
Joining the list is not a purchase, a reservation, or a promise on our side that Pro will ship on any particular date — or at all.
Our content
Unless stated otherwise, the text, images, logo, video and page design on slugsync.com are ours, and all rights in them are reserved. You may read them, link to them, and quote reasonable extracts with attribution.
Without written permission you may not:
- Republish material from this site as your own.
- Sell, rent or sub-license material from this site.
- Reproduce, duplicate or copy this site's design or copy in substance.
- Use the Slug Sync name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse, supply or are affiliated with you.
Again, and to be clear: this section covers the marketing site. It does not cover the plugin's source code, which you are free to copy under the GPL.
Acceptable use
Do not use this site to break the law, and do not attack it. Specifically, do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its host, probe it for vulnerabilities beyond good-faith security research, scrape it in a way that degrades it for others, submit anything through its forms that is unlawful, abusive or deceptive, or use it to distribute malware.
If you find a security problem, we would rather hear about it than not. Report it through the contact form and we will not come after you for having looked.
Advertising
This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense, which is part of how the free plugin stays free. We choose whether to run ads and where; we do not choose the individual ads, and an ad appearing here is not a recommendation, an endorsement or a statement that we have checked the advertiser.
Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. We are not a party to it and are not liable for it. What the ads do with cookies, and how to turn the personalisation off, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Links, both ways
Linking to us
You may link to slugsync.com without asking, from any page, as long as the link is not deceptive, does not falsely imply sponsorship or endorsement, and does not sit in a context that would reasonably embarrass us — unlawful, obscene or defamatory material, for example. We may ask you to remove a link, and we would rather ask than escalate.
Do not frame our pages, or present them inside your own interface in a way that alters how they appear.
Links from us
This site links out to GitHub, wordpress.org, documentation and other third-party resources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability or their privacy practices. A link is a pointer, not a warranty.
Your privacy
How this site handles data is set out in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
No warranty
The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to this site and its use, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the information here is complete or accurate, that the site will be available without interruption, or that it is free of errors. Documentation, comparison tables and FAQ answers describe the software as we understand it at the time of writing; software changes, and so does WordPress.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Those exclusions come first and everything below is subject to them.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost traffic or lost search rankings, arising out of your use of this site or of the free plugin — whether the claim is brought in contract, in tort, or for breach of statutory duty.
The site and the free plugin are supplied at no charge, and our total liability in connection with them is limited accordingly. Where you have paid us for something, our total liability in connection with it is limited to the amount you paid.
Indemnity
If your use of this site in breach of these terms causes a claim to be brought against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of defending it.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of this site at any time, including these terms. When the terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the new version. We do not maintain the site to any promised uptime and there is no support commitment attached to the free plugin.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country.
If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
Contact
Questions about these terms go through the contact form. For bugs and feature requests, the GitHub repository is the better address — the discussion is public and other people benefit from it.
